Mallory-Denk body

Definition: Subtype of intermediate filament inclusions seen in a variety of liver diseases. Mallory bodies contain keratin-8 (KRT8) and keratin-18 (KRT18).

Etiology

 alcoholic liver disease

 drug-associated hepatic anomalies

  • amiodarone-associated hepatic anomalies

 primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC)
 adenomatous hyperplasia in cirrhotic livers (2777244)
