HIV-associated parotid lymphoepithelial cyst
19 June 2017Histologically, lymphoepithelial cysts can be classified into 3 subtypes:
type I, a cystic dilation of ducts within parotid glands (14.1%);
type II, partially demarcated cystic lesions with lymphoid stroma (42.2%);
type III, well-encapsulated cystic lesions with lymphoid stroma containing lymph follicular structures (43.8%).
Lymphoid stroma is induced along with the growth of the cystic dilatation of ducts within sialadenitis.
Cystic lymphoepithelial lesion can be an HIV (...) -

parotid duct
18 February 2017Stenon duct; Stensen duct WKP
Definition: The parotid duct or Stensen duct is a duct and the route that saliva takes from the major salivary gland, the parotid gland into the mouth. -
parotid nodular fasciitis
2 January 2017Nodular Fasciitis of the Parotid Gland
Nodular fasciitis (NF), very uncommon in the parotid gland, is a benign myofibroblastic proliferation that may be mistaken for other neoplastic proliferations.
NF of the parotid gland occurs in middle-aged patients who present with a mass (mean 2.2 cm) in the parotid gland of short duration (1.9 months).
FNA misinterpretation frequently leads to excision.
Differential diagnosis
The principle differential diagnoses include :
fibrosarcoma , (...) -
parotid solitary fibrous tumor
2 January 2017solitary fibrous tumor of the parotid gland; parotid SFT
Solitary fibrous tumor is a rare, mesenchymal neoplasm that has been reported in numerous sites. Occurrence in the parotid gland is rare.
Solitary fibrous tumor should be suspected in the clinical context of a slow-growing, well-circumscribed, solid, avidly-enhancing nodule of the parotid gland.
Intimate association with the parotid duct may reflect peripheral entrapment.
Fine needle aspirations that predominantly yield collagen (...) -

parotid sebaceous epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma
29 September 2014sebaceous epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma of the parotid gland
Epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma (EMCa) is a double-cell layered low-grade malignant tumor, representing approximately 1% of all salivary gland tumors.
Its histologic characteristic is that of an inner layer of cuboidal epithelial cells with dense granular cytoplasm and central or basal rounded nucleus, and an outer layer of clear, polygonal myoepithelial cells, together forming ductal structures in a lobulated papillary (...)
