cytokinesis
15 September 2003Process by which the daugther cells separate from each other at the end of the cellular division
Cytokinesis follows nuclear division and generates two distinct daughter cells, each replete with a full complement of the genome and cytoplasmic organelles.
Completion of cell division during cytokinesis requires temporally and spatially regulated communication from the microtubule cytoskeleton to the actin cytoskeleton and the cell membrane.
Exit from the cytokinetic phase of the cell cycle (...) -

nucleus
15 September 2003cell nucleus, cellular nucleus. Brown, 1833. nuclei WKPD
Definition: The cellular organelle in eukaryotes that contains the genetic material.
The major components of the nucleus are chromosomes, chromatin, which are dense strands of nucleoprotein fibers holding the genetic material of the cell, and the nuclear matrix, which is a protein-containing fibrillar network.
The nucleoli ( nucleole ) are electron-dense structures that function in the synthesis of ribosomes and rRNA.
