intraductal tumors of the pancreas
25 May 2016intraductal neoplasms of the pancreas
There are three types of pancreatic neoplasms that predominantly have an intraductal growth pattern:
the common, usually cystic, intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMNs);
the rare, usually solid intraductal tubulopapillary neoplasm (ITPNs);
and the rare intraductal tubular pyloric gland-type adenoma .
In addition to these three tumor types, pancreatic neoplasms with a usually solid growth pattern such as acinar cell carcinomas, (...) -
familial pancreatic adenocarcinoma
12 November 2014familial pancreatic cancer
Familial pancreatic cancer (FPC) represents 9% of PC, and the risk of malignancy in kindred does not appear to be confined to the pancreas. (#25313458#) Genetic risk factors are believed to play a major role. Approximately 10% of PC is estimated to have familial inheritance.
Subsets of familial pancreatic cancer involve germline cationic trypsinogen or PRSS1 mutations (hereditary pancreatitis), BRCA2 mutations (usually in association with hereditary (...) -

14 October 2013Acinar cell cystadenoma of the pancreas; pancreatic acinar cell cystadenoma (WHO 2010) PO
Definition : Acinar cell cystadenoma (ACA) of the pancreas was initially described as a non-neoplastic cyst of the pancreas and, at that time, referred to as "acinar cystic transformation." In subsequent studies, these lesions were given the designation of "-oma," despite the relative lack of evidence supporting a neoplastic process.
Early lesions are marked by acinar dilatation that expands (...) -

28 August 2013Pancreas FNA; pancreatic fine needle aspiration; FNA biopsy of pancreatic lesions
Accurate preoperative diagnosis of pancreatic lesions is crucial for proper clinical management.
Routine tissue diagnosis with laparotomy or core needle biopsy is seldom performed due to significant morbidity and potential mortality. In addition, core needle biopsy may have potential risk of needle tract tumor implantation.
Fine needle aspiration (FNA) has been increasingly used in the diagnosis of (...) -
