polymorphic PTLD

Definition: Polymorphic PTLD is the most common type of PTLD in both children and adults and may occur at any time after transplantation.

PTLD displays architectural destruction, but also displays a full range of B-cell maturation. Polymorphic PTLD are characterised by nuclear atypia, tumour necrosis and destruction of the underlying lymphoid architecture. Polymorphic

Lesions in this group are highly polymorphic, usually monoclonal and include plasmocytes and blast forms.

According to the WHO classification, polymorphic PTLDs can be polyclonal or monoclonal.
