ageing

WKP

Definition: Ageing is the process of becoming older.

The term refers especially to human beings, many animals, and fungi, whereas for example bacteria, perennial plants and some simple animals are potentially immortal.

This process can affect any level of organization of living processes or living structures : cells ( cellular senescence ), tissues ( tissular senescence ) or organisms ( systemic senescence or ageing ).

The senescence is the biological process of ageing.
