monomorphic PTLD

Monomorphic PTLD includes high-grade invasive lymphoma of B- or T-cells.

This type of PTLD is often seen several years after transplantation and resembles non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) as seen in the general population.

Monomorphic B cell PTLD can be further divided into diffuse large cell lymphomas and Burkitt’s or Burkitt’s like lymphomas that display characteristic chromosomal translocations.

Monomorphic T cell PTLD can be further divided according to whether it is large cell, anaplastic or unspecified in type.

Types

- B-cell monomorphic PTLD

  • diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (immunoblastic, centroblastic, anaplastic)
  • marginal zone B-cell lymphoma
  • Burkitt lymphoma
  • Burkitt-like lymphoma
  • plasma cell myeloma
  • plasmocytoma-like lesions
  • small B-cell lymphoid neoplasm

- Hodgkin lymphoma and Hodgkin-like PTLD

- T-cell PTLD

  • peripheral T-cell lymphoma (NOS)
  • large granular lymphocyte proliferations
    • large granular lymphocyte leukemia
    • large granular lymphocyte lymphoma
