XPA

Sunday 26 March 2006

XPA is a metalloprotein that also preferentially binds many types of damaged DNA in vitro , and RPA (formerly called single-stranded binding protein) binds avidly to single-stranded DNA.

The types of base damage that promote NER generate some unwinding of the DNA duplex, thereby promoting the binding of RPA1.

XPA and RPA are thought to bind to DNA after the binding of XPC-HHRAD2.
