Functions

The Drosophila dishevelled gene (dsh) encodes a cytoplasmic phosphoprotein that regulates cell proliferation, acting as a transducer molecule for developmental processes, including segmentation and neuroblast specification.

In drosophils, dsh is required for the function of the wingless gene product wg, a segment polarity gene homologous to the mammalian protooncogene WNT1 (MIM.164820).
