myxofibrosarcoma
Myxofibrosarcoma (MFS) is one of the most common soft tissue sarcomas of elderly patients and has a predilection for the limbs.
The term myxofibrosarcoma has been adopted for lesions formerly known as myxoid MFH. These lesions have been moved into the category of fibroblastic tumors.
Myxofibrosarcomas are a distinct and reproducible entity (quite separate from lesions formerly known as pleomorphic MFH), which represent the commonest type of soft tissue sarcoma in older adults.
Myxofibrosarcomas show a particular tendency to arise in subcutaneous tissue of the limbs and show a broad spectrum of morphological grade, but even the high-grade lesions, which may contain non-distinctive pleomorphic areas reminiscent of so-called MFH.
They have a metastatic rate of only approximately 35%, which is lower than most other types of pleomorphic sarcoma.

Cytogenetics
Highly complex karyotypes with extensive intratumoral heterogeneity have been reported. No consistent aberration.
