histiocytic infiltration
Friday 13 January 2017
histiocyte-rich lesion ; histiocytic infiltrates
Examples
histiocytic infiltration in atypical mycobacteriosis
lymphohistiocytic infiltration in digestive histoplasmosis
histiocytic infiltration in Erdheim-Chester disease
Etiology (examples)
infectious diseases
- mycobacterioses
- mycoses / fungal diseases
- histoplamosis
histiocytosis / histiocytoses
- Langerhans histiocytosis
- xanthogranulomas
- crystal storing histiocytosis
Localization
histiocytic infiltrates of the skin / cutaneous histiocytic infiltrates
Diagnostic of histiocytic infiltration
IHC : CD68 , CD1a , S100
search for infections agents : Ziehl , PAS , Gram , Grocott , methenamine silver
search for intracellulaire bodies :
- Michaelis-Guttman bodies in malkoplakia
A CD68- , CD1a+ , S100+, langerin+ IHC profile makes a diagnosis of Langherans cell histiocytosis.
A CD68+ , S100+ or S100- , CD1a- , langerin IHC profile suggests a diagnosis of non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis as juvenile xanthogranuloma or Erdheim-Chester diseuse .
The presence of of Michaelis-Guttman Bodies m’aies thé diagnosis of a malakoplakia.
infectious agents in histiocytes
- The presence of an infections agent in the cytoplasm of histiocytes makes the diagnosis of an infections disease with histiocytic reation :
- AARB with Ziehl : mycobacterosis as tuberculoses or lepra
- deep fungal diseases as histoplasmosis
