News:

December 6, 2007: A consortium of Swiss universities will use government and university funds of as much as CHF 400 million ($354 million) over the next four years to create a large-scale systems biology project, called SystemsX.ch. Groups contributing to the research efforts include the Universities of Basel, Berne, Lausanne, Fribourg, Geneva, and Zurich, the Paul Scherrer Institute, Friedrich Miescher Institute, and the Swiss Institute for Bioinformatics, as well as the Federal Institutes of Technology in Zurich and Lausanne. The consortium said that the Swiss parliament pledged CHF 200 million for the project with CHF 100 million going into systems biology research projects. However, government funds will only be distributed to partner institutions that commit an equal amount to the research project in question. (ref)
