PTGER4
Prostaglandins (PGs), thromboxanes (TXs), and leukotrienes (LTs) are oxygenated metabolites of arachidonic acid that are thought to act through 7-transmembrane domain-type receptors.
Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) activates 4 receptors, designated prostaglandin E receptor subtypes PTGER1 (EP1), PTGER2 (EP2), PTGER3 (EP3), PTGER4 (EP4).
Pathology
The pharmacological antagonism of the EP4 receptor inhibits metastasis to the same degree as the COX inhibitors. The ability of COX inhibitors and EP4 receptor antagonists to limit tumor dissemination is highly dependent on functional NK cells.
