Definition: Targetoid hemosiderotic hemangioma is a distinctive, benign vascular tumor.

Epidemiology

 mostly sporadic
 rare familial occurence (11115185)

Microscopical synopsis

 biphasic growth pattern

  • superficial dermis : Irregular, thin-walled and dilated Vascular channels Lined by hobnail cells
  • deep dermis : the vessels forms slit-like spaces.

 Hemosiderin deposition
 dilated vascular structures in the superficial dermis lined by prominent hobnail endothelial cells

 collagen dissecting, rather narrow neoplastic vessels in deeper parts of the lesion
 hobnailed endothelial cells;
 no atypia .

 D2-40+

Differential diagnosis

 cavernous lymphangioma
 lymphangioma circumscriptum
 retiform hemangioendothelioma
 progressive lymphangioma
 Dabska’s tumor
