anomalies associated with breast implants

Monday 2 March 2015

Anomalies

- silicon foreign body reaction
- capsular synovial-like hyperplasia around mammary implants similar to detritic synovitis (7694944)
- silicone lymphadenopathy ( 3377110)

- anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) of the breast (18594466)

  • Primary lymphomas of the breast are rare and predominately of B-cell phenotype.
  • Anaplastic large cell lymphoma is a T-cell lymphoma that accounts for only 3% of all non-Hodgkin lymphomas.
  • Rare cases of primary anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) of the breast have been described in association with a silicone breast implant capsule.

- follicular lymphoma adjacent to foreign body granulomatous inflammation and fibrosis surrounding silicone breast prosthesis. (7755157)
