right heart lesions in Behcet disease

Behcet disaese patients can have irregular mass lesions in the right
heart.

The mass lesions show similar histopathologic features to those of aortic valvulitis, consisting of endocardial fibrin deposition, dense inflammatory infil-
tration, neovascularization, and fibrosis.

The infiltrates consisted of neutrophils, lymphoid cells, and histiocytes.

Acute endothelialitis is also present at the newly formed vessels.

The inflammatory infiltration is often less prominent at the base of the
lesion where the myocardium was often irregularly involved by the fibrosis.

As it was in aortic valvulitis, the infiltrating lymphocytes mostly consisted of
T cells with only scanty B cells.

CD68-positive histiocytes were numerous.
