serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma
Sunday 15 November 2009
Definition: Thorough examination of these fallopian tubes revealed frequent association of serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma (STIC) or tubal intraepithelial dysplasia, which usually has p53 mutations.
A recent characterization of serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma (STIC) and of the p53 signature suggested that HG-PSC may follow a stepwise progression on cellular and molecular levels. (19898227)
Studies to find STICs are most often based on the morphology by hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining where diagnostic reproducibility is low.

HMGA2
In invasive carcinoma, HMGA2 overexpression is correlated with p53, indicating the role of HMGA2 in p53 mediated tumor progression. Immunoreactivity for HMGA2 may lead to a novel, useful biomarker to complement p53 in the detection of early-stage serous carcinoma. (19898227)
