Single system ectopic ureters are usually associated with multiple congenital abnormalities and the corresponding renal units is frequently abnormal.

Synopsis

 unilateral or bilateral

 ectopic orifice

  • vaginal
  • vestibular
  • urethral
  • at the bladder neck
  • seminal vesicle
  • undetermined

 renal obstructive anomalies

  • obstructive renal dysplasia
  • chronic pyelonephritis

Associated anomalies (63%)

 unilateral or contralateral renal agenesis (26%)
 anorectal malformations
 hypospadias
 skeletal anomalies
 cryptorchidism
 unilateral cystic ovary
